Planned concerts

Folk Dance Group „Hamernik” is the amateur ensemble which was founded on January first 1979. They have been working at Nowohuckie Centrum Kultury. Group members are young people of over 15 years old, mainly originating from mountain areas (Podhale -Zakopane) and living In Cracow as well as indigenous Cracovians fond of folk from Podhale.

„Hamernik” consists of over 30 members at present. The group presents authentic folk from Skalne Podhale and has the following programme: „ Radośniki” (baptism), „Prucki’(feather tearing),”Na hamernicka nutę” (with the melody of Hamernik ), „Gwiazda” (Christmas Star), „Kolędnicy” (Carol-singers), „Szopka hamernicka” (Christmas cradle by Hamernik),”Wesele góralskie” (folk wedding),”Na Hali” (At the Alp), „Przy Watrze” (At the Bonfire),”Zielone Światki” (Pentecost), „Na scyłśćiy,na zdrowiy” (New Year’s customs), „W te Godne Święta” (At this Decent Holy Time –Christmas Time), „Młóćka” (Threshing corn) and other dance and singing programme along with the occasion .

The Group took part in multiple cultural enterprises among which there were: International Festival of Folk and Mountain Areas in Zakopane where they won „Złota Ciupaga”(Gold Alpenstock) – 1999, and „Srebrną Ciupagę” (Silver Alpenstock) – Three times in the following years 1985, 1989, 1993. Hamernik is the repeated prize-winner of such folk group competitions as : in Cracow „Festival of Folk by Polish Mountain people” as well as in Żywiec, Bukowina, Poronin and International Festival in Turkey, England, France, Germany, Jogoslavia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Ukraine and Hungary.

For their outstanding enterprises Folk Dance Group ‘Hamernik’ have been awarded the following prizes:

  • Gold Award for merits for Zakopane
  • Gold award for merits for Metallurgic Combine
  • Honorary Award ‘Honoured for Polish Culture’
  • Medal for Polish-French friendship
  • Medal of Hittites (Turkey)
  • Medal of Helping Hand
  • Medal Cracow’s Institute of Culture
  • Medal Of Festivals in Bristol and Shrewsbury (England)
  • Medal for 700 anniversary of Żywiec City
  • Medal for XXX anniversary of Folk of Polish Mountain people in Żywiec
  • Medal of Larisa City in Greece
  • Medal by the name of Oskar Kolberg
  • Medal for 50 anniversary of ZPT ‘Lublin’
  • Medal of Festival –Vychodna – Slovakia
  • Medal for 650 anniversary of Nowy Targ City
  • And other diplomas and awards

The Group travelled to 36 countries, performed in over ninety Polish cities – in some of them more than once. They gave over 1000 concerts.

Along with their artistic career Folk Dance Group ‘Hamernik’ received broad recognition of jurors, earned wide audience, fans of mountain jargon, music, dance and customs. Group had their recordings in Polish Radio and Television as well as in the stations abroad. ‘HAMERNIK’ do also have their own video and tape recordings. They edited four videos: ‘Folk wedding’, ‘At the Alp’, ‘Decent Holy Time in the mountains’, ‘With the melody of Hamernik’, and one CD.
